Bass Oct

Bass Octaver patch made to get nice faux bass tones from a guitar. HOLD (holding current preset footswitch) and turning up the C2 knob will both bring in a flanger. Moving expression pedal towards toe position will mix in the original octave, while heel position is lower octave only. C1 knob will change center frequency of a band pass filter, useful to shape the bass tone. Experiment with different pickups and guitar tone pot settings to get various bass tones.

In current LVX firmware 1.1, POLY CHROMA pitch shifting tracks to slow for rhythmic playing. MONO CHROMA tracks not super fast, but sufficiently for bass. Alas, it won’t allow single pitch stereo center shifting, but you will always have two pitched signals, one panned hard left, one panned hard right. This results in a messier sound, not so nice for precise basses.

So this patch uses a trick to get dead center single pitch shifting: A super fast POLY delay (less than 1 ms) with 1 tap and mix=100% generates a mono signal. A Preamp in VOLUME PEDAL mode in PRE position is set to send only one side of the Pitch Shifter (which sits in PRE+DRY position) into the delay.

Disclaimer:
Most of my patches are made from scratch (some started from factory presets). Most require firmware 1.1 (or possibly higher). Most were programmed with an expression pedal hooked up to the LVX. So, if the preset does nothing or way too much, you may have to connect an expression pedal an experiment with pedal positions :-)
