I had an idea: could I turn an Akai APC40 MKII into a dedicated hardware controller for Baby Audio Tekno on the iPad?

I didn’t know if it would work, so I enlisted ChatGPT and started experimenting.

What followed was a lot of MIDI monitoring, testing, failed ideas, Mozaic scripting, AUM routing and button pushing. Eventually, we got there.

The finished setup gives me control over all 18 Tekno instruments using the APC40’s 9 faders across two banks, with dedicated mutes, LED feedback and soft takeover so the faders don’t cause parameter jumps when switching banks.

The txt file contains two scripts: The engine, which is the big file that does all the work, Filter, prevents other instruments being triggered. As patch storage only allows one image file, I opted for the midi routing table. Just create two separate instances of Mozaic midi tracks in AUM and then your Tekno app as the audio track. There is a link to a YouTube video showing it in action. I do not have any video of the setting up as everything was done using chatGPT. Feel free to tweak/customize!

You use the bank select right and left buttons to get to user bank and the master button above master track fader is the mute button.
