I used the Lunetta CD4514 to decode a 3-bit “address” to keep sweeping through 2^3 = 8 steps on a sequencer. I drive the 3 bits using Sapphire Pop with CHAOS=0 (completely regular pace), and each tuned to run twice as fast as the previous. Each integer on the SPEED scale is an octave, so it’s easy to set the speeds to 0, 1, 2. The final Pop triggers the CD4514 latch to select one of the outputs 1..8. Adjust the speed of the Sapphire Pop modules to get interesting rhythm variations.
