Insert Mode Program – Series Routing – Program MIX 50%. Works in Parallel mode. Upside: better separation of effects. Downside: better separation of effects. Try it, and see. Programmed for stereo use. CrushStation into SpaceTime.
Backstory: Looking at my studio rack, I wondered why some units were still in rotation. One of them has an incredible chorus, with a good auto-level compressor. Lots of external switching options, an average ‘exciter’, plus a unique Hush noise reduction design. And the distortion? Well, it was manufactured in 1984, so enough said.
So, in an H90, how could I …? This Program is the V-1 of three. All use distortion / fuzz, compressor, modulation / chorus, a delay (or two, or three), reverb, noise gate, with a fake exciter or two tossed in. I tacked on components unique to the algorithms used, such as octave shifts, wahs, EQ / filters, etc.
All three HotKnobs are pre-programmed for making fine adjustments to several of the effects. Customize the sound, using these variations:
* [P] HotKnob (CCW) – “exciter” to low frequency emphasis. [default = 100]
* [A] HotKnob (+/-) – adjust CrushStation Sag & Grit. [default = 25].
* [B] HotKnob (+/-) – adjust SpaceTime Delay times. [default = 55].
EXP1 sweeps CrushStation Mix, Drive, Mid Freq, plus Spacetime Mix, Mod Rate, Delay Level, and Feedback 1 level.
(Optional) Aux Switches:
4). Compressor On/Of
5). Chorus On/Off
6). Reverb On/Off
Other options include bypass of the entire Program, only CrushStation, or only Spacetime, adding down & up octaves, Infinite layering, and a wah pedal added to EXP1.
See the Program Notes for more information on the PERFORM switch mapping.
