PhantomStar

A shader imported from ShaderToy.com, details in the .frag file. You will need to rename the patch file to PhantomStar.frag from PhantomStar.frag.txt for it to import correctly into VS using the Safari browser on iPadOS, the Firefox browser doesn’t add the .txt extension. On iPadOS you can use AudioShare to rename the file and deselect, “keep extension” to see the .txt extension and erase it and then save the file with the just the .frag extension. Use the down arrow icon in VS to import the PhantomStar.frag file into VS.

Hey, first I want to say thanks for uploading some patches to help get this thing started!

But I can’t get either of these to work. I’ve followed the instructions and deleted the .text and saved the files with only the .frag extension, then opened VS and tried using the “down arrow” to import the files, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Following the same renaming instructions, these materials work perfectly on the desktop version of VS. I wonder why they’re not working on the iPad.

If you don’t get the import material as PhantomStar message in the pop up window after you select the PhantomStar.frag file, then there is something wrong with the file. I suspect it still has a problem with being the wrong file extension.

In AudioShare the file will initially be PhantomStar.frag.txt rename it to PhantomStar.frag. I’ve successfully downloaded both PhantomStar and Octagrams, moved them to a location in AudioShare, renamed them, and imported them into VS without issue on an iPad Air 3 running iPadOS 15.5. They will appear in the, “USER MATERIALS” section of VS.

I understood the renaming and importing instructions, but still no luck. There’s still something wrong.

The problem seems to be iPadOS specific to Safari as the Firefox browser downloads the file without the .txt extension too.

We weren’t able to run this one on desktop. It says ‘initializer not allowed’ on Line 44. You need to remove the const qualifier from the pi and pi2 variables in order to successfully run it on desktop.

After fixing the material and applying to the layer, it’s performance decreased a lot. Quite heavy this one!
