±16min long tape-sampler module for Orac 2.0 (Organelle) made to record/overdub multiple takes (one after another) to compose songs, includes SuperCompress (reaction = 100ms) to secure audio from clipping and an export function to record/save content to /media/cassette.wav.
#1 copy cassette_1-7.zop into /Patches
#2 reload the Organelle (menu Storage -> Reload)
#3 run “Install cassette_1-7…”
controls :
aux : start/stop playing (green LED) and/or stop exporting
C1 key : reset position to the cue point (white LED flash)
C#1 key : start/stop recording new or overdubbing if playing (red LED blinking)
notes (from D1 to A#2) : playback pitch
B2 key : export/record to /media/orac/cassette.wav in realtime (blue LED) starting from the cue point, creates/overwrites the file each time, stop manually using the same key or aux
knob1 : force (affects playback start/stop and pitch reaction)
knob2 : precise playback pitch
knob3 : cue point / playhead position
knob4 : precise cue point / playhead position
v1.8 : compatibility with the Transport module : starts in sync, can be armed from the Transport module to record at start (but unfortunatly it’s not in sync when overdubbing, i don’t understand yet why the playback speed cannot be the same as recorded, but it’s still useful to record one rythmic take then add synths, or else… for now)
v1.7 now installed into /media/orac/usermodules/sampler , now exporting to /media/orac/cassette.wav
v1.6 : stereo and overdub bugfixes
v1.5 : cassette is now 1000sec. long (16/17min. at normal speed), takes 336mo of RAM
v1.4 : should now receive MIDI start/stop (but i can’t test it), minor graphic improvement, patch cleaned a little bit
v1.3 : new real-time export function with a dedicated key on B2 (blue LED) starting from the cue point (stop manually), the LED now flashes white when pressing the cue key (C1), other minor improvements
v1.2 : different key mapping (new dedicated record key on C#1), LED now blinks when recording, bugfix when reaching the end of the cassette
This is great fun as a generator of sound as well as recorder. Thanks a lot. I’m missing how to do a “reset” clear the “tape” of everything and start again, sorry it it’s obvious but I missed it
Hi @devoid thank you! Unfortunately there isn’t that function, the only ways are to record blank over the tape or unload and reload the module (i think), hopefully someone will improve it, i don’t have the Organelle anymore so i can’t actually… ✌️
I love this patch! I mainly use it to export loops I make on ORAC so I can make beats with them later in Ableton.
I have a question though. I want to edit it so I can save multiple loops to the media folder without having to open up the file manager and rename the file. Example: it would save as cassette1 cassette2 etc.
Do you have any insight on how to easily achieve that? I’m new to pd. I just want to be able to later access those files on the file manager, they don’t have to be accessible from the patch itself.
actually nvm I was able to install your module version of Capture and it does exactly what I want. Great patch as well

Sounds awesome and I’m using your other patches so I’m very excited about this. However, I’m unable to make / play any recordings. The only thing that works properly is the B2 button functionality (it records to the folder). What am I doing wrong?
