gcs.cc v2.4 - PAGE GUIDE (English)
==================================
(version française : LISEZMOI-PAGES.txt)

Every page, every setting. Measurements, sources and history: README.txt. "(source)" = Arbhar manual (firmware 2.0);
"vcs.cc" = taken from vcs.cc; otherwise ranges and curves are CHOICES. [brackets] = factory value.

GENERAL
  Encoder turn = page (wraps 11 -> 1); press = Organelle menu.
  AUX / footswitch / CC64 = looper on the active layer: empty -> REC -> PLAY -> DUB -> PLAY ...; hold 1 s = erase.
  Header: page, 6 small squares = the 6 layers (filled = playing; hollow = recorded but silent; dash = empty; underlined = active layer),
  state (--- REC PLY DUB ARM; inverted = REVERSE), "n/11".
  Keys: low C to F = active layer 1-6 (MULTI: short = mute / unmute, long = layer to record); F# = REVERSE; G to B = grain pitch (middle C = original pitch).
  Soft takeover after a page change. Settings saved 2 s after the last move (gcs-etat-v24.txt).
  To start: press AUX, play a few seconds, press AUX (the loop plays, the grains read it); hold keys on the right;
  turn SCAN / SIZE / INTENS; DRY/WET to the right to stop hearing the direct sax.
  To make the SCAN move by itself: HEAD page, SPEED x1 (or x0.5, or reverse). Randomly: MOD page, M.DEST SCAN,
  M.SHAPE S&H or FLUCT, raise M.AMT.

1 GRAINS SCAN position in the loop, counted from the play head; SPEED STOP: 0 = start of the recording, 100 % =
            end (source); with SPEED the SCAN moves by itself [50 %] | SIZE 4 ms-3 s,
            750 ms at centre (source) [200 ms] | INTENS centre = MAX grains, left = SYNC (regular, equal level, fewer),
            right = ASYN (random timing and level, fewer) (source) [ASYN 76 %] | DRY/WET constant power, WET = no
            direct sound at all (nor its effects) [D50/W50]
2 VARY SPRAY random start offset per grain, full = anywhere in the layer (source) [15 %] | DIR reverse
            probability FWD / REV x % / REV (source) [FWD], inverted by the REVERSE key | DEV left = RND (random up to
            +/-12 st), centre = OFF, right = 12 quantised positions, each grain plays -a, 0 or +b: -2/+1, -1/+2,
            -4/+3, -3/+4, -7/+5, -6/+6, -5/+7, -9/+8, -8/+9, -11/+10, -10/+11, -12/+12 (Arbhar default table,
            source) [OFF] | WINDOW SQUARE ... GAUSS ... SAW, 9 shapes (source) [GAUSS]
3 PLAY PITCH -24..+24 st [0] | OCTAVE -2..+2 [0] | KEYS MONO (last held key) / POLY (each grain picks one of the
            held keys) [POLY] | K.GATE OFF / ON (cloud only while a pitch key is held) [OFF]
4 SETUP LAYER layer read by the grains: W (active layer) / 1-6 / ALL (SCAN runs through the 6 layers, source) [W] |
            DUB share of the old content kept each pass in DUB, 100 % = nothing fades (source) [100 %] | MAXGR 1-16
            simultaneous grains [12] | BURST grains fired per attack in STRIKE, 1-16 [4]
5 HEAD (one head per layer, as in tcs.cc; the GRAINS are taken around the head: they come after it)
            H.LEVEL mix GRAINS <-> HEAD: 0 = grains only, 50 % = both, 100 % = head only [0] | SPEED head speed, hence
            SCAN speed: x1 = grains follow the loop as played, x0.5 half as fast, left = reverse, STOP at centre =
            grains frozen on the last pass; -2..+2; grain pitch unchanged [STOP] | H.INERT head (and grains) speed
            up / slow down smoothly, 5 ms-5 s [200 ms] | L.MODE SOLO (only the active layer plays) / MULTI (all
            non-muted layers play; layer key short = mute / unmute, long = layer to record) [SOLO]
6 INPUT     IN.GAIN -12..+24 dB [0] | IN.SRC L / R / L+R (jack or internal mic via the hardware selector; mono cable =
            L; L+R adds both channels) [L+R] | O.MODE OFF / STRIKE (each attack fires BURST grains on what was just
            played) / ARM (on an empty layer, AUX arms; the next attack starts REC) / BOTH [OFF] | SENS attack
            sensitivity, 18 dB (0 %) to 3 dB (100 %) [50 %]
7 MOD       M.DEST modulated setting (any but VIEW) [OFF] | M.AMT -100..+100 % [0] | M.RATE 0.02-20 Hz [0.2 Hz] |
            M.SHAPE SINE / TRI / SQUARE / S&H / FLUCT (slow fluctuation) / STEPS [SINE]. Does not move the knob value
            or the saved settings. Random SCAN: M.DEST SCAN + S&H (jumps) or FLUCT (slow drift); adds to SPEED.
8 DELAY (inspired by the Chase Bliss MOOD MkII and Habit; after the loop, never changes it)
            DELAY dry/wet [DRY = off] | D.TIME 40 ms-2 s, glides like tape [283 ms] | D.FDBK, 100 % = repeats hold
            and stack without running away [45 %] | CHAR left TAPE (each repeat darker, wow, saturation) / centre
            CLEAN / right UP 5th then UP OCT (each repeat a fifth, then an octave higher) [TAPE 22 %]
9 REVERB (inspired by the Chase Bliss MOOD MkII and Dark World; after the loop, never changes it)
            VERB dry/wet [D75/W25] | R.TIME size and decay together 0.4-30 s, fully right FREEZE (the tail holds forever,
            nothing new enters) [6.1 s] | SMEAR multi-tap (separate echoes) to wash [70 %] | SHIM the tail climbs
            octave by octave [0]
10 OUT FX.IN what enters DELAY then REVERB: INPUT (direct sax) / BOTH / LOOP; the rest bypasses them [BOTH] |
            PRINT OFF / ON: ON = during REC and DUB only, the sax is recorded through DELAY then REVERB (their dry/wet);
            the existing loop is never sent through the effects again [OFF]
            | G.SPRD coin-toss grain panning width (source) [70 %] | VOLUME [91 % = unity gain]
11 VIEW the layer being read, write position (line), recent grains (marks at the top), "SC.. SP.. ..ms ..st".
            The 4 knobs set SCAN, SPRAY, SIZE and PITCH.

FIXED (removed from the pages to keep it simple, CHOICE): head start position (one pass behind), head centred, record level 100 %, input high-pass 60 Hz,
  no input gate, pitch bend +/-2 st, no glide, loop limiter -3 dB.
