A 4 track, lo-fi tape loop with a slowly degrading tape that allows recording, punch-ins and selected play-back of the loops. The tracks slowly pan around the stereo image during playback and are routed through reverb for extra A M B I E N C E.
The first page of the track gives you control over everything you’re likely to need (and the controls are labelled). Of particular importance:
– White toggle button top right is a dry kill – my intention with this patch was to play sounds into the tape live, and seeing as the recorded versions sound so different to the dry version, I found that jarring, so you can record “silently”
– 4 clusters of 3 buttons across the centre of the page: red is a push button for punching in, orange is a toggle to hold record (in case you need both hands) and green is track mute (the mute function is slewed so tracks fade in and out).
– Along the bottom there are master controls for the tone of the tape (filter cutoff and resonance) and an “offset” control which skews the filter cutoff on the left and right of the stereo image to create some interesting imaging effects.
Nice.
Is this patch broken (or semi-broken) by newer firmware? As soon as I switch to it, I get four yellow utility buttons (although the CPU is sticking around 90%). (On firmware 1.13)
