Being a big fan of the way the Octatrack can record live loops and switch between the incomming audio and recorded audio, I tried to make something similar using the new Sample functionality of the Zoia pedal.
In this patch the right stomp switch arms the recording. It will start to record once the record sequencer tells the sampler to do so. The record sequencer gets a message from the play sequencer to start running.
the record sequencer starts one step early and used a delayed clock, to give the sampler time to start. Without this, the first beat is partially cut off.
Usage:
1. Press and hold Scroll and Bypass to make the stomp switches work for this patch. Shift button should turn blue.
2. Clock should be received using MIDI.
3. While the music is going into the input and is played directly, press record-arm (Bypass stomp)
4. The sampler will record the loop in the background, and the record light of the sampler will be lit. Once the sampler has stopped recoding, disarm the record function by pressing Bypass stomp again.
5. Now switch between live and recorded version with the select stomp switch
Extra: when pressing the sample length button on the sampler, you can see what has been recorded, without interfering with the recording and playing itself.
Issues:
Clock latency compensation on page 2 will probably need to be set to different value, depending on speed of SD card.
Currently you have to manually disarm the record function. Might need an option to do this automatically

What a great idea!
It would be great to add the audio balance module as a crossfader. As I own a litte expression fader, it would almost feel like an octatrack.
And maybe use the new reverse/pitch module with a sequenzer to add reverse and pitch on several steps.
